Friday Links Roundup: Week 6

Perhaps the weirdest part about this post is not that it’s Friday (this week has kind of taken forever), but that this is my 6th week of doing this. It’s kind of mind-boggling that I’ve already been working on this blog for over 6 weeks (and kept things going consistently). Anyways, I know this is a little late in the day, but I hope you enjoy some of the things I’ve found over the week.

First up, who knew Baltimore was such a crazy destination? Atlas Obscura argues for its being one of the most eccentric cities in America based on a listing of monuments, museums, and more. This has definitely added it to my list of go-to cities whenever I make it out east.

Also from Atlas Obscura, I learned this week that the Smithsonian Institute has been using online volunteers for transcribing historical documents. So, even if you don’t get a chance to get out to the institute itself, you can be an important part of history.

One of my friends over on Facebook this article about the amazing Lego hotel in Florida and, despite the number of kids I’m sure grace the halls, I’m already planning my trip.

Speaking of hotels, you can visit the world’s oldest hotel should you be in Japan. Fortune did a wonderful feature a few weeks ago on this hotel, which has been open for over 1,300 years.

If that’s not enough for you, be sure to look back over the articles from this week… you might get some inspiration about what to do with your three day weekend (whether or not it’s a romantic one).
